plz plz tell me what type of dress i need?

so i'm the matron of honor in my bf wedding and i get the amazing opportunity to have a custom dress made for me but i have never worn a formal dress and i'm short and thick ( 4'9", young mom of 2 most problem area is my stomach! but i'm not fat size 9 jeans!) so i need to know what style of dress to get that will work well w/ my shortness and "pudginess" the lady that is making my dress said i don't even need to buy a pattern just bring her a pic she can do whatever, "challenge me!" she says! i have always had to get jeans altered this is my one chance to have a dress made just for me and actually fit me perfectly but i'm clueless...any ideas? been looking at pics of formal dresses and prom dresses (don't laugh) like i said i'm young i want a cute stylish dress not look 40! i really like the empire waistline but don't know if it will work w/ my height! i have no torso so the long sleek dresses are out or atleast i think so! see, i'm so confused plz help me!
